“Today, we power over ten million automated vehicles on the road with our ADAS maps, winning overall market share in the AV solutions market,” said Mike Schoofs, TomTom chief revenue officer, in a statement. “We have consistently outperformed the already strong growth in the market, which is proof of the quality and robustness of our ADAS solutions.”
One of the major market drivers, the recent European Union requirement that all vehicles have intelligent speed assistance, has spurred interest in the company’s Virtual Horizon, which covers both the data and a software suite to display the data. The regulation has been mandatory for all vehicles types since July 2022.
HERE and Continental Power IVECO’s Commercial Vehicles
TomTom’s rival, HERE Technologies, along with Continental, are using the mapping company’s data and Continental’s eHorizon platform to enable IVECO commercial vehicles to meet the EU’s intelligent speed assistance requirement.
Continental will provide vehicle positioning, data aggregation and scalable 4G/5G telematics control unit, the company said. HERE will deliver speed limit information for EU roads and additional geospatial content for ADAS.
